Today, Monday, Tony Romo will be on a plane bound for London, England with the rest of the Dallas Cowboys. There was talk about having him rest until possibly after the bye week but, Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals changed all that. In fact it is almost a “must” win, the talk of playing for home field advantage is a quickly fading memory. If we don’t win next Sunday against Jacksonville we may have to trot out the old Dick Vermeil line “Play offs, don’t talk to us about playoffs”!
With the Eagles now solidly in first place in the NFC East the Cowboys cannot afford to lose any more ground to them before they meet on Thanksgiving. So what went wrong this time? At QB Weeden was terrible and it wasn’t because of lack of Prep Time, he worked with the first team all week, during regular season at least one day a week, more during pre-season. He finished 18 of 33 for 183 yards 2 picks and a touchdown. As for Dez, he has been hard to find last couple of weeks, he went 2 for 15 this week, some may point to QB as being off on timing routes but he has also had drops and separation problems. De Marco’s 100 yard streak is over but he did a respectful 79 yard on 19 carries and no fumbles. Bailey had an important field goal blocked, not sure who to blame there. As for the offensive line, still have some issues this week, the defense I believe played well and started the game with a Pick 6. However this defense is still not able to win a game by itself, it requires help from the offense and it was not forthcoming this week. And like last week the Coaches cannot escape unnoticed, surely they have some adjustments that should been made on offense but, to be fair the Cardinals also had a lot to do with the Cowboys troubles. One last thing I hope at least some of you Romo haters, can now see the value he brings to this team. So from all of us still on the bandwagon you better hope you see Romo with a helmet on next Sunday, not a sombrero.
