Honoring Stella Fair: A Tireless Advocate for Voting Rights

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stella Fair. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to her family and friends.

Stella was born on January 2, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas, and passed away on June 1, 2026. Her funeral will be held on June 24th at 11:00 am at the Tree of Life Funeral Home in the Ruby Chapel, located at 1051 S. Handley Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76112.

Stella Fair was unwavering in her commitment to protecting voting rights, defending democracy, and fighting injustice. She served with exceptional distinction as the first Voting Rights Director for the League of Women Voters of Tarrant County from June 1, 2024, to June 1, 2026. Stella shaped the organization’s mission and inspired both members and the wider community.

Known for her steadfast dedication to justice, Stella was a determined opponent of voter suppression. She championed the fundamental right to vote, worked with elected officials to strengthen elections, and tirelessly educated the community about their voting rights.

Stella’s hands-on approach brought democracy directly to the people. She led impactful voter registration drives at high schools, colleges, senior living facilities, churches, and various community events. She was especially proud of her work educating formerly incarcerated individuals about their right to vote, ensuring every voice would be heard.

Stella was in constant communication with her elected representatives, always well-researched and ready to hold them accountable. She joked that Craig Goldman, the then HD97 State Rep, was so tired of her calls that he had HD97 district lines redrawn in 2021 to move Stella to a different district.

Stella was deeply involved in her community, serving as Advocacy Director for her local AARP chapter. She was also a member of the Justice Network of Tarrant County and participated in local LULAC and NAACP groups.

Beyond her leadership, Stella was a cherished friend whose warmth, energy, and dedicated commitment inspired everyone around her. Her legacy is not only one of policy and progress, but of the deep connections she fostered within the League and the broader community.

The League honors Stella’s life and pledges to uphold her memory by continuing her essential work with renewed vigor and determination. We are committed to advancing the causes Stella championed, ensuring that her vision will endure for generations to come.
