All is Lost

Is it possible this season could get worse? We’ve gone through one franchise quarterback; two young running backs; lost 8 straight and have had this organization embarrassed with on and off the field drama. With the latest loss to the Undefeated Carolina Panthers the season is most undoubtedly over. Even if there is still technically a chance of making it to the playoffs. I’m going to stop teasing myself and say there’s no way it’s happening this year. Let’s start coping with reality now to save time later. The beginning of the season pro predictions had the Cowboys winning the division, Philly coming in 2nd, the Giants 3rd and everybody was picking Washington to be dead last. Everyone couldn’t have been more wrong with our most recent loss that sealed our position of last place in the NFC east, while the sloppy 5-7 Washington Redskins pulled ahead to first place with a win over the NY Giants.
We play the current division leaders, the Washington Redskins this upcoming week for some exciting Monday night football. With Romo now out for the rest of the season we will start Matt Cassel this Sunday. Cassel still hasn’t gotten a win while wearing a cowboy jersey. At this point, is a win 100% what we need? Even though we are two games behind, would you even want to see our team in the playoffs? We’ll add to the embarrassment of this season with a quick loss and we’ll damage our chances to draft higher in the 2016 draft. This season is lost. Let's play for next season. Let’s take some chances and play young quarterback Kellen Moore. With our quarterback position definitely lacking depth and talent within that depth, we must see what we’re working with. Moore is a little smaller than your typical NFL quarterback 6’0 and weighing 200lbs. Even though he’s small he led his Boise State team to 50 wins while attending the university. The NFL is a whole different ball game, but with Moore being in the league for 4 years and never seeing a regular season game, we should see if he’s worth keeping around for the coming years. Darren McFadden is 28 years old and heading towards the end of his career. We’ll have him for another season or two- and with his injury prone history; I think it would be smart to save his legs. Not sit him entirely, but maybe not tear him down with giving him every rush. I would like to see more of Robert Turbin or even Rookie Rod Smith. The cowboy’s organization won’t say it but now is the time to start rebuilding our team. Regardless of the position, we should see who fits in where and who doesn’t.
This could possibly be our worst season since our 3-13 1988 season. The late 80’s were a bad time for the cowboys, but soon after that it rained with division titles and super bowl wins. Let’s just keep our jerseys on, finish this season and start praying for next season.
