Wilson v/s Brady and Alex Guerrero?

By A. Govea

January 29, 2015

When most hear the name Alex Guerrero, they think Alex the Major Leaguer but that’s not this Alex.  In fact this Alex does not wear a batting or NFL helmet, you might catch him wearing a Patriot cap or toboggan.  While he may not be a professional athlete, many athletes including perhaps the biggest name in Super Bowl 49, Tom Brady knows Alex Guerrero very well.

Alex Guerrero is perhaps part physical therapist and part counselor.  He is quoted as saying “Everyone thinks I’m’ a kook and charlatan”.  According to Alex that is the opinion many in his profession have of him.  But if you ask Tom Brady his opinion of Alex he would be more apt to describe him as a Guru and would include Guerrero as one of the reasons he feels so good going into this Super Bowl.  In addition, he is a trusted friend and Godfather to his son.  All this leads me to say “I will have what he is having” (Brady) and as will many more athletes and others that will soon be calling for Alex.

Now for the game, is it the Seattle Legion of Boom versus future hall of famer Tom Brady?  Or could it be a game won by the running game.  If that is the case you have to say advantage Seattle.  However New England is confident in their linebacker trio of Collins, Hightower and Jones primarily a defense that also rushes from the inside so the question is are they up to the task.  And for sure they will have their hands full defending Marshan Lynch, who is often described as a punishing runner. There is no doubt that coach Belichick is confident in his defense to handle Lynch.  However the problem is that there is another running back in the Seattle backfield that can also pass the ball.  That player is of course QB Russell Wilson that has over 800 rushing yards this season.

On the other side you have Tom Brady and a coach that seems to always have a winning formula despite the personnel on the field.  At 37 Brady seems to be regenerated this year and he must know that Super Bowl appearances are not to be taken for granted.  In fact the whole team may be thinking this one will secure the legacy of Brady and the New England Patriots.  While their running back may not have the good or bad publicity of Seattle’s Lynch, La Garrette is very much capable of having a great game with over 500 yards this season. In addition Brady has two tight formations led by all Pro Ron Gronkowski, that have been hard to defend this year, along with his wide outs that include former Texas Tech standout and Woodlands, Texas native Danny Amendola. The long and short of it this offense is very capable putting points up on the board in a hurry and they will need too early to win It has been reported that this  the first time in Super Bowl History we have two head coaches of Croatian descent, well I say good for them, but I can’t help but think of the only Super Bowl Duo of Coach (Tom Flores and Quarterback Jim Plunkett) both of Mexican descent that went on to win 2 Super Bowls, there was hardly a whisper, and today most people still don’t know. I could go on with a lot more, but instead will invite to read Tom Flores story under Latino Legends. (Odds makers have New England 1 point favorites.  This game is too close too call, but we all know what happened last year when Denver’s unstoppable offense met Seattle’s Legion of Boom defense).
