First, I want to thank our loyal readers across North Texas. Whether you read us in print or online, we hear you. And to those who, for whatever reason, don’t like us—and sometimes leave unkind

messages on our racks—we hear you too.

To you, I want to say: you are welcome to email me at alberto@holatexas.us and tell me why our publication feels threatening to you. Or is it not really Hola Texas—does any bilingual or Latino‑themed publication bother you? If that’s the case, I can’t help you. Pero, I do hope we can simply agree to disagree.

Now, to our new friends in Abilene—allow me to introduce myself I am Alberto Govea Hola Texas publisher. Hola Texas began more than twelve years ago under the name Nuestra Voz. Later we added Our Voice because some people assumed it was a Spanish‑only publication. And if you’re a Chicano type, you know plenty of us can’t read Spanish.

As our online reach expanded across Texas and beyond, we transitioned to Hola Texas, reflecting content that was no longer limited to North Texas. In recent years, we also became part of Amigos 4 Progress, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our mission remains the same: to Educate, Entertain, Inform, and celebrate our community through stories. We strive to provide information of real value and will not shy away from calling out those who harm or impede our community’s progress.

In this issue, and in October—you’ll find important voting resources you can use no matter where you live. We will not tell you who to vote for or what party to support; that’s your decision. Candidates are welcome to send us information about how they plan to serve our community. Pero, to be clear, we do not endorse any candidate as an organization. If you see me at your favorite restaurant or out in the wild, I’m always happy to discuss los choices.

One more thing, Abilene Raza: I would appreciate any information on possible distribution sites for our monthly print edition. If you are a business owner or run a professional office and would like to help sponsor our publication, we need you too. Just as important, we want your local stories—and we want to meet your local Raza leadership.
