Monday Night Mediocre Football

Monday Night Football is approaching and with the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys having together combined 8 wins this season and still both in the hunt for the NFC division title - Monday night’s match should be interesting. Both teams have been completely shaky with their quarterbacks this season. Washington has shown a major improvement in this position with their new starter, Kirk Cousins. Cousins and company have managed an impressive at home record of 5-1. With the Cowboys playing on the Redskins home turf Monday, this isn’t great news. On the other side of that coin - the Redskins have been completely winless on the road, so we know this team is undoubtedly beatable. This Washington team is beatable when their offense is put on their toes and forces Cousins to make unanticipated, quick decisions. Dallas’ defensive coordinator, Rod Marinelli is our only hope to beating this almost unbeatable, at home, offense. Marinelli has all the pieces he needs to have a dominant defense and shut down this Redskins offense. With Hardy and Gregory crashing down from the outside and Rods strategic blitz package we could easily push this Washington Redskins past their heels and onto the turf numerous times. With sending a constant flow of blitz to disrupt a semi-new quarterback, you must balance it with a great coverage plan. Great coverage in the secondary has been on and off throughout the season. We play great for the majority of the game, but late, we let a big one go that usually costs us the game. This secondary is tied at 25th in the league with interceptions. Our stud cornerback, Brandon Carr hasn’t had an interception since the 2013 season. This guy and the rest of the defense is due for some pics this Sunday.
A nice mix of Matt Cassel and backup Kellen Moore would be nice to see Monday, but we’ll for sure only see Matt Cassel. Cassel is still winless wearing White and Blue, but is still considered a competitive threat if he connects a few passes and gets into a rhythm. Possibly a competitive threat for sure, but this is only for the offense. He’s not our guy that could carry us to wins. To put together a win this Monday against the very mediocre Washington Redskins our entire team must be working at their highest performance- Offense, Defense and Special Teams.
Last week I was talking about giving up on our boys. To start throwing our games to guarantee great picks in the 2016 draft. It’s too hard to quit the Boys. I can’t act like I don’t care and can’t bare another loss this season, especially to our division rival. After putting my jersey in the closet last week, to what I thought the last time I would see it for 8 months - I’ll be bringing it back out again this Monday.
Let's Go Boys,
J. Arguello
